Summer Fencing Camp Programs

The Kansas City Fencing Center offers three types of camps during the summer months. Each type of camp is geared towards a specific level of experience, ranging from the absolute beginner to the experienced competitive fencer. Check the descriptions below and choose the one that best fits your needs. Registration information will be made available through this site in the spring. Our summer camp programs are very popular and space is limited. To secure your spot, we encourage early registration.

Introductory Camp

This camp covers the same material that is covered in our Introductory classes offered throughout the school year. Each camp will conclude with a tournament Friday morning.

Recreational Camp

Session Length: 5 Days

Cost: $300.00

Camp Description: Our recreational camp is geared towards the advanced beginner to intermediate level fencer. Participants must have completed some form of introductory level class before attending this camp. The focus of this camp is on improving ones skills and gaining a better understanding of the tactics of the modern game of fencing. This camp will include some physical conditioning and agility work, as well as, a fair amount of drill work and electric bouting. Camp will conclude with a tournament Friday afternoon.

Competitive Camp

Time/Duration: 1pm - 6pm, Monday - Friday

Session Length: 5 Days

Cost: $300.00

Camp Description: Our competitive camp is geared towards the intermediate to experienced level fencer (not appropriate for beginner - advanced beginner level fencers). The focus of this camp is to prepare the fencer for competition. Students are expected to have a solid command of basic footwork and bladework and be ready for a strong cardio-vascular workout. This is a high intensity camp that includes strength, speed and endurance training and a focus on competitive bouting, and tactics for the modern game. Since a great deal of this camp is run using our electric scoring machines, all participants must provide their own electric equipment. Camp will conclude with a tournament Friday afternoon.

Dodgeball Camp

Time/Duration: 1pm - 3pm, Monday - Friday

Session Length: 5 Days

Cost: $100.00

Camp Description: Dodgeball camp was added to our schedule in 2009 and has become one of our most popular camps. We spend a bit of time working on basic dodgeball specific skills before moving on to learning one or two new dodgeball games each day. We will explore a variety of individual and team games throughout the week. The camp is open to kids ages 8 – 16. Camp ends Friday afternoon with a team tournament.
