Frequently Asked Covid-19 Related Questions
Do you check temperatures at the door?
No, we ask that our participants self monitor for symptoms of Covid-19 at home, including taking their temperature before coming into the gym.
If I were to report to you that I have tested positive for Covid-19, would that information be shared with the membership?
We would alert those that had been in class with you that they may have been exposed to someone with Covid-19, but we would not reveal your identity.
I want to take a beginners class but I don’t have any fencing gear, is that a problem?
No, we will provide everything you need for class, you just need to come dressed to be active. We will issue you a set of equipment that will be set aside for your use alone. You will not need to share equipment with anyone else. However, if you would like to purchase your own equipment before you start class, we can help you through that process.
Do you require that everyone wear a face covering?
Yes, everyone must wear face covering at all times in the Fencing Center. This includes under their fencing mask. This requirement is non-negotiable.
Have you had any known transmission of Covid-19 at KCFC?
No, we know of zero cases of transmission in the club.
Do you allow spectators during practice time?
At this time, we do not allow spectators during practice. We are trying to limit the total number of people in the facility at any given time. The observation area upstairs is not well ventilated and spectators would need to be relatively close together in order to observe what is going on down on the gym floor.
How long do you expect to operate under these guidelines?
I don’t know exactly. We will continue to seek guidance from the CDC, USA Fencing and our State and Local governing bodies. We will err on the side of caution, as our primary responsibility to our membership and the community is to keep everyone safe.
What should fencers do if they have symptoms of coronavirus?
STAY HOME! And please let us know so that we may make sure those who may have been exposed can take appropriate measures.
When can I return to fencing after having had a mild to moderate case of Covid-19?
The CDC recommends that you remain in isolation for 10 days following the onset of symptoms of the coronavirus.
